Bodybuilding Supplement Misconceptions
Throughout the years I have heard many different misconceptions about bodybuilding supplements. Whether it be trying to lose weight or gain muscle, most people start a new supplement regimen with a false sense of reality. This post is intended to clear up some misconceptions within the realm of fitness and supplementation.
1. Supplements themselves make you huge or get you ripped.
This is probably the biggest one. I have heard this a million times: “What’s the best thing I can take to get me huge!” or “What’s the best thing I can take to make me lose fat really fast?”. Hearing that sentence confirms to me that this person hasn‘t done their research. They are setting themselves up for failure.
I can tell them until I am blue in the face that the latest and greatest diet product they are looking for are not the answer they are looking for…..but it will not matter.
The fact is that supplements are just a piece of the puzzle. It’s more complicated than just taking a pill or drinking a powder.
2. You can eat whatever you want and lose weight
I get this one a lot too. “What can I take that will let me eat what I want and help me lose weight?” They are extremely disappointed when I tell them nothing like that exists.
Unfortunately losing body fat or gaining muscle takes a lot of hard work. It takes a good nutrition plan, exercise, and proper supplementation to get good, permanent results.
3. If you aren’t gaining any muscle. You aren’t eating enough.
I get this one a lot from young guys. “I eat all day long and I still can’t gain any muscle”.
Well, If you tell me that, then you aren’t eating enough. In most cases when I ask them to tell me what they eat in a given day they often don’t eat breakfast or they have one big meal and they think that should be enough. If you are young and have a fast metabolism, you should be eating so much that you get tired of eating.
You should never be hungry!
4. The most anabolic product you can buy is…………..FOOD!
Without food all the pre-workout powders, all the creatine in the world will do nothing for you. Without food you body does not have the fuel and other resources it needs to change.
So if you have a few bucks to spare, don’t spend it one testosterone boosters and go buy some food!
