Best Bodybuilding Supplements | Protein
In an earlier post I chose what I thought, through personal use and through client and customer feedback, what the best pre-workout supplements are. Now we dive into protein powders. Most bodybuilders and fitness enthusiasts will agree that protein powder is the base of you supplement program. It is the most important part of it. If you can only choose one supplement to take, it would be protein.
The number of protein products on the market reach into the thousands. You have protein powders, ready to drink (RTD) protein shakes, and amino acid tablets. the most economical of these are the powders. They may not share the convenience of the RTDs, but they are cheaper. Let’s be honest, it doesn’t take that long to mix up a shake.
There are many products to choose from. The key for most people is finding one that tastes good. If it tastes good, or at least decent, odds are you will be more consistent with the product.
Also, I wouldn’t recommend using a smaller company’s protein powder unless you see proof that the product is legitimate. Usually the bigger name companies’ proteins are legitimate. So stay away from those smaller companies and go with the bigger names.
The tough part about finding the BEST protein on the market is that everyone has different tastes, and it’s even more evident in protein.
People have different goals…gaining muscle mass, losing bodyfat and their nutrtional programs will be different. Some people want carbohydrates and others are on a low carbohydrate diet. So you’re choice of proteins will be dependent on those situations. Just read the labels and try a few to see what you like.
Protein is important, but one company’s protein will not be a huge difference over another company’s as far as results go. The key is to be supplementing with protein…..period!

Different types of protein do different things. Some absorb faster than others, so timing of your protein intake will be a factor in your decision of which protein powder is best for you.
The bottom line is that you are taking protein! That’s the key. Protein is essential whether you are trying to gain muscle mass or lose bodyfat.
