CLA Supplements

Conjugated Linoleic Acid (CLA) is a natural fatty acid that you can find in meat and dairy products. CLA has been touted as a fat loss supplement and is included in many fat burner supplements.
If you are looking to increase the amount of ClA in your diet your are better off with supplements. It is really hard to get enough CLA from food.
CLA been shown to increase muscle mass and reduce body fat stores. There are studies that show that CLA can be anti-catabolic. It can also be an antioxidant and it can boost your immune system.
It has been said that CLA can also help in changing your physique whether you are trying to gain muscle mass or lose body fat. The other good thing about CLA is that it is a natural compound with literally no side effects.
You can also include CLA in the anti-catabolic realm. I don’t know if that’s true, but it is said by experts that this compound can help spare muscle tissue.
CLA Dosage
To get the best results with CLA you need to take 3-4 grams of it per day. They usually come in 1000mg capsules, so you would need to take 3-4 capsules per day. The most popular form of CLA is Tonalin CLA. Tonalin CLA is included in many supplement manufacuters’ weight loss products. So, if you see a product you like check and make sure that it is the Tonalin CLA.
CLA Side Effects

CLA is a natural product. The FDA recognizes it as a safe product. I have seen a few papers that suggest that CLA can have detrimental effects on insulin resistance. I have, however, seen more papers that suggest that it is very beneficial for lowering insulin resistance. Just be safe and take only the recommended dosages and there should be no problems.
I have taken NOW CLA before and I honestly don’t know if it works or not. I tend to lean on the “it doesn’t work” side. I think you will get the same or similar effects on a fat loss program without taking it. I could be wrong, but that is just from my experiences.
