Leucine has been gaining in popularity over the past year or so. Most supplement companies and bodybuilders looked past this branched chain amino acid (BCAA) for years. Now Leucine is getting much more respect and is being touted as a very anabolic substance.
Leucine can be taken by itself or you can just use a BCAA powder. Most experts insist that Leucine must be taken with food for maximum benefit. Also, if you are going to use BCAAs, you will need to increase the doses to see benefits from using them.
You can find Leucine in whole grain type foods, but that’s pretty much it. You will have to use a leucine supplement to get enough for benefits.

What is Leucine?
Leucine helps maintain muscle tissue and along with the other two BCAAs, Isoleucine and Valine, it can give your body energy when you are training. Leucine also maintains muscle glycogen stores which is needed when you are going through some tough training sessions.
The other cool thing about Leucine is that it basically makes everything you eat more anabolic. You have to have certain amounts of Leucine in your body to utilize your protein and food. The more Leucine you have, the more food and protein your body can utilize.
There are not a lot of pure Leucine powders on the market…maybe a handful. If you don’t want pure Leucine, just try high doses of BCAA powder.
I highly recommend Leucine. It has no side effects…it can do nothing but help.
